I believe
If you keep going to church,
If you keep hosting Wednesday night Bible studies,
Listening to Christian music,
Reading your Bible,
Praying for friends,
Holding potlucks with Christian friends,
Satan will leave you alone.
As long as you don’t ACTUALLY do anything,
Satan will leave you alone.
Instead,
What if, when you left church, you didn’t go home until you helped someone who was poor?
What if next Wednesday night everyone got on their knees and submitted to God? “Use us Lord. Break our heart for what breaks Yours. Send us.” And you prayed until.
What if, before you prayed for friends, you prayed for your enemies?
What if, instead of holding potlucks you committed to feeding the hungry?
“But…I can’t do that. I have a job. I have family. I don’t have the money. I don’t have the time. I can’t.”
You can.
And here’s the crazy part.
What would most likely happen is…
You would face trials of many kinds. Maybe deep cutting, heart breaking trials.
The enemy wants you numb. He doesn’t want you loving God or loving your neighbor. The enemy wants you loving yourself.
Don’t be offended. Don’t be prideful. This isn’t between you and me. It’s between you and God. If you’re good, you’re good.
Personally, I’m not good. I have a long way to go.
And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.” Mark 10:18
