I Believe
The cornerstone of Christian faith is belief. It’s our faith.
What do Christians believe?
We believe that God sent His Son.
We believe that Jesus was a man, and He was God.
We believe in the three parts of God: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe Jesus died on the cross for our sins.
He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven.
We believe Jesus will return.
I think it’s easy to say, “I believe all that. I’m good.”
When you believe, the Bible says you’ll receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). You’ll receive new eyes and a new heart. You’ll see love differently. You’ll see your neighbor differently. Your gay neighbor, your Muslim neighbor, your immigrant neighbor, your Democrat or Republican neighbor. You’ll see them all differently.
You’ll see your sin differently.
“If you love Me, you will keep my commandments.”
As long as you’re living your life the way you want to, and simply asking God to “bless” it, you’re saving your life and Jesus says you can’t come after Him, you can’t be with Him.
Christians. Read that again. Let it soak in.
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.” John 14:15–17
God is telling us that if we believe and we keep His commandments, HE WILL BE WITH US FOREVER. HE WILL DWELL IN US.
THAT’S GOOD NEWS!
